Visiting Card Sizes in India: A Practical Guide

14 July 2026 · 5 min read

If you ask a print shop in India for visiting cards and say nothing about size, you will get 89 x 51 mm — roughly 3.5 by 2 inches. It fits every wallet slot and card holder made, which is exactly why it became the default. For most businesses, this is the right answer and there is no reason to overthink it.

A square card at 55 x 55 mm is a deliberate signal. It still fits a wallet, but it does not stack flush with everyone else's cards, so it stays visible. Studios, boutiques, and personal brands use the square format when the card is part of the portfolio rather than just a contact detail.

A folded card doubles your printable area without doubling the footprint. It suits people who need to carry more — a consultant listing service areas, a restaurant printing a small map, a therapist including appointment policy. The trade-off is cost and a slightly thicker card in the holder.

Whichever size you choose, keep text at least 3 mm inside the trim edge and supply artwork with 3 mm bleed on every side. Cutting has a small tolerance, and that margin is what keeps your details from being trimmed off.
